East African Legislative Assembly

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) is the legislative arm of the East African Community (EAC), an economic bloc in East Africa consisting of eight different countries.

The core functions of the EALA include making laws for the East African Community, overseeing the activities of EAC institutions, passing a community-wide budget, and promoting and encouraging political and economic integration.

Each member of the EAC is entitled to nine representatives to the body, elected by the parliaments of the member states.
